The announcement
On May 7, 2026, Socomec, the France-based maker of low-voltage electrical equipment, cut the ribbon on its Gwinnett County facility in unincorporated Suwanee at 2935 Shawnee Industrial Way. The state first announced the project on November 12, 2025: nearly $10 million invested and about 300 new jobs. It is one of the few 2026 plant openings in the corridor where hiring is already underway, not still on the drawing board.
The product line is worth naming: power switching, monitoring, conversion, energy storage and solar balance-of-system equipment, the low-voltage gear that keeps data centers and hospitals running. That puts Suwanee inside the same data-center supply chain as Siemens' plant in Pendergrass and the broader Southeast build-out.
Where it sits
The plant lands in the industrial belt of the corridor, roughly 15 to 20 minutes from Mulberry on a normal day. It belongs to the Suwanee employment base, the same one that hosts the corridor's office and tech employers, and it extends the Gwinnett jobs map that the relocation guide tracks employer by employer.
The measured read
Hiring for production and operations began in early 2026, and the company says the plant will reach full capacity by 2027. That is the normal shape of a factory: the jobs arrive on the build-out cadence, not the ribbon cutting. For a buyer, the number to hold is the same one this site has used all year: buy inside the commute ring, verify the district, and price to the comps, not the headline.
