VDL Groep Plans a $77M Expansion and 120 New Jobs in Oakwood

On October 13, 2026, Governor Brian Kemp announced that VDL Groep, the Dutch high-tech systems manufacturer, will invest an estimated $77 million to expand its VDL Industries operations in Oakwood, Hall County, adding about 120 jobs on top of the roughly 70 there today.

The announcement

On October 13, 2026, Governor Brian Kemp announced that VDL Groep, the Netherlands-based high-tech mechanical engineering and equipment manufacturer, will invest an estimated $77 million to expand its footprint in Hall County, creating approximately 120 new jobs on top of the roughly 70 already employed at the site.

The project, known as VDL Industries Gainesville, is at 5459 Aloha Way in Oakwood. The company will purchase the facility it currently leases there and expand it, using it for the turnkey development and production of high-tech systems serving the semiconductor, foodtech, mobility and infratech sectors. Construction and hiring are planned to proceed in phases over the coming years, with the expansion construction targeted for 2028.

Where it sits

Oakwood anchors the Gainesville 85 industrial strip, about 25 to 30 minutes from Mulberry on a normal day, the same employment pocket that the Gainesville community page and the Oakwood brief cover. The relocation guide keeps the running employer table for the corridor, and this site has tracked Hall County's build-out in the notes on Cirkla's Gainesville plant and the Branch Business Park in Flowery Branch.

The measured read

This is an expansion of an employer already on the ground, not a brand-new one: the announcement takes VDL's Hall County headcount from roughly 70 toward about 190 as the build-out lands. High-tech systems work for semiconductor and foodtech clients is exactly the kind of base the corridor wants to compound, and it widens the employment mix beyond logistics and automotive components.

For buyers, the signal is the same one this site has used all year: jobs follow rooftops, and the corridor's job base keeps compounding in place. The practical questions remain the commute ring and the school district, not the headline.
