The Referral Process
Referrals.
This page explains how Rob Dietrich refers clients to real estate agents in other markets. He does not hand over a name from a directory; he personally researches, vets and interviews candidates before recommending anyone. When Rob refers an agent, his reputation is attached to that recommendation.
Checked, not compiled
Every referral is researched and vetted before a name is offered, never pulled from a directory.
The Standard
Personally vetted referral agents
The referral is a considered introduction, not a convenience. Rob only offers a name after the person behind it has earned his confidence, and yours.
When Rob refers a client to an agent in another market, he does not simply hand over a name from an online directory. He starts with agents he has successfully worked with before, experienced, productive professionals with a strong track record of looking after their clients properly.
If he does not already know the right agent in that market, he personally researches and vets suitable candidates. Through the eXp Realty network he can also identify high-performing agents, including eXp ICON agents where appropriate.
The goal is not to find just any available agent. It is to find the right agent for you. He looks at factors such as local market knowledge, recent production, experience in your price range and property type, communication, responsiveness, negotiation ability, and overall professionalism.
He can then give you two or three carefully selected agents to interview, or he can take the process a step further and personally speak with them, ask the qualifying questions, and recommend the agent he believes is the strongest fit.
What Rob checks
The Difference
Why this is different from an agent directory
A directory is a list. A referral is a judgment, made by someone whose name is on the line.
An online directory
An online directory gives you a list of names and profiles. Anyone can search for an agent online. The difficult part is knowing who is genuinely experienced, who is active in the market, who communicates well, and who you can trust when a transaction becomes complicated.
A professional referral
A professional referral gives you research, vetting, selection and accountability. That is where the referral process adds value. When Rob refers an agent, his reputation is attached to that recommendation. He wants to be confident that the person he introduces you to has the experience and professionalism to represent you properly.
The Code
Professional standards matter
There is also an important distinction between simply holding a real estate license and being a REALTOR. REALTORS are members of the National Association of REALTORS and agree to follow its established Code of Ethics and professional standards. When selecting a referral partner, professional conduct, experience and accountability all matter.
Because a referral should be more than a name. It should be an introduction to a proven local professional you can feel confident working with.
Membership in the National Association of REALTORS carries a binding Code of Ethics, and that standard is part of every referral partner Rob selects.
The Referral Discussion
Contact Rob to discuss a referral.
If you are buying or selling in another market, contact Rob before you pick a name out of a directory yourself. A short conversation covers where you are going, what the move involves, and whether a referred agent is the right path. He only offers a name after the person behind it has been properly checked.
